Hair transplant stages

Regardless of the hair transplantation method chosen, it’s essential to understand that the process remains consistent across all techniques. The procedure typically involves three main stages: harvesting of hair follicles, opening channels, and transplanting the follicles.

During the initial stage, hair follicles are carefully harvested. The Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method is renowned for its high success rate in follicle collection. Using cylindrical needles, hair follicles are meticulously extracted one by one, minimizing damage. Proper needle selection, ranging from 0.7mm to 0.9mm in diameter, is crucial, and each patient should have a dedicated set of sharp needles tailored to their needs. Ensuring that hair is extracted according to the natural angles of the roots is another critical consideration meticulously planned by the doctor before the operation.

The second stage involves the precise opening of channels for follicle transplantation. While metal slits were commonly used in the past, modern techniques utilize sharper and smoother sapphire blades. Sapphire blades enable greater precision in determining the angle and direction of hair transplantation and promote quicker recovery post-surgery. It’s imperative to use a dedicated blade for each patient to maintain hygiene and optimize results.

Finally, in the last stage, the harvested hair follicles are transplanted into the pre-made channels. Careful placement of follicles at angles of 40-45 degrees ensures natural-looking results and optimal growth.

In conclusion, each stage of the hair transplantation process requires meticulous attention to detail. The experience and expertise of the medical team performing the procedure are crucial for achieving successful outcomes. Therefore, it’s essential to select a team led by a seasoned doctor with extensive experience in hair transplantation.

Things to know before having hair transplant

FUE hair transplant procedure with Dr. Serif Yavuz

Before undergoing a hair transplant procedure, there are several important factors to consider. Firstly, it’s essential to note that individuals aged between 20 and 60 are generally suitable candidates for hair transplantation. Additionally, while the actual transplant procedure may only take one day, it’s advisable to allocate a total of three days before and after the operation for recovery and follow-up.

Many individuals often inquire about the duration of the hair transplant procedure. Typically, the operation lasts between 6 to 8 hours, although this timeframe may vary depending on the number of follicles required.

Choosing the right facility for your hair transplant is crucial. Opting for a fully-equipped hospital environment is essential to ensure a smooth operation and address any potential complications promptly. It’s recommended to have three healthcare professionals present during the procedure, including at least one specialist.

It’s important to manage expectations regarding the results of the hair transplant. While some individuals may expect immediate results, it’s essential to understand that visible outcomes typically manifest between six to 18 months post-surgery.

Lastly, laser-assisted hair transplant procedures offer an innovative approach to expedite the healing process. By incorporating cold laser therapy into the operation, efforts are made to accelerate wound healing and minimize side effects such as pain, redness, and swelling. The goal is to achieve optimal results from the hair transplant procedure in the shortest possible timeframe.
